Our youngest Pivoteer by a long shot—but mature far beyond her years—Ellen possesses a rebellious soulfulness and a burning drive to blaze her own trail. She comes to us from Texas by way of Milwaukee, where (in only 3.5 years) she earned her dual degree in Public Relations and English Writing at Marquette University and first cut her teeth in the PR world. She’s eager to prove herself, welcomes adventure and a straight shooter through and through (we suspect that’s the Texas in her). Her love for storytelling and helping people express themselves makes her a perfect fit for her role as PR Specialist at Pivot.
PR is its own thing. It’s about helping people tell the timely stories they can’t easily communicate through marketing or advertising. I find ways to make the messaging meaningful and valuable to the audiences in a way that keeps the story on strategy.
College was never part of my plan. I always just wanted to write. I wanted to go straight into it and learn from the experience. My parents convinced me otherwise, though, and I found PR—where my passion for writing and communicating evolved into what it is today.
I probably have over 300 notes on my phone of the stories I’ve started and want to tell someday.
Writing is a language of its own. Words can be very powerful, but sometimes it’s hard to find the right words. I love helping people figure out how to communicate their story—finding what really matters and what will resonate with others.
