Oliver Winery started as a hobby back in the 1960s and has grown into a 100% employee-owned company. The Indiana winery and vineyard is now one of the largest wineries in the United States, producing more than 480,000 cases of wine annually. Known for crafting innovative, approachable wines that appeal to both sweet and dry paletes, Oliver operates with the end goal of producing quality wines that bring people together.

Telling the Story, Expanding the Reach

With distribution now in 29 states, Oliver Winery wanted to build on this momentum by driving brand awareness in target markets with a more robust earned media and influencer strategy.

To get the word out, we created an engaging media kit, worked national editorial calendars, and met with top writers and influencers to help reenergize and reposition the winery’s story. We mailed product, coordinated on-site tours, created a branded media gift, and even produced a VIP tasting experience, pairing Oliver wines with seasonal dishes.

Our efforts resulted in plenty of local, regional, and national press coverage, as well as increased engagement on all channels. This, in turn, boosted sales and generated multiple new partnership opportunities.

An Overnight Success

Within four hours of Oliver’s Blueberry Moscato Delish.com story being published, Oliver’s online transaction count increased by 1,250% year over year for that time period. Online sales continued to spike in the days following the post, with new website users via referral up 70% that weekend. Delish’s subsequent Facebook posts generated over 30K likes and 4K comments, driving more than 10K direct hits to the Oliver site.

Media coverage continues to come in, with more than 107 million earned media impressions in only a few months. Recent placements in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Wine Business Monthly, Bustle, Glam, and AAA Magazine are setting the stage for continued success in the years to come.
