For five years now, Pivot has had the pleasure of working with the Indianapolis Parks Foundation to create the look and feel of their signature event, the IPL Mayor’s Lunch for Parks. The event raises support for parks and greenspace in our city, and every year, we’ve seen that support grow.
So this year, we wanted to capture that dynamism. We wanted the look and feel to reflect the significance of parks in Indianapolis and to take a more ambitious tone than we had employed in the past. It was time to recognize the IPL Mayor’s Lunch for Parks as a meeting of minds who are passionate about leading progress, pursuing physical and cultural enrichment, and designing a better city. And this is what we came up with.
As with previous years, the brand promotes playfulness and enthusiasm. There’s a youthful energy that’s a natural part of the event every year, but this year’s design takes a more grown-up turn. It speaks to a city with plans, a purpose, and a sophisticated awareness of the relationships between urban spaces and their effect on a community. The new look is inspired by city maps (if you look closely, you can find Monument Circle) and the graphic pattern, which was inspired by the lines of modern playscapes, suggests trails and connectivity.
We’re thrilled to report that the lunch drew a record number of guests and exceeded the Indianapolis Parks Foundation’s fundraising goal. Here’s to many more afternoons in the shade of your favorite Indy park—and at the new parks to come.
